The DataLocker DL4 FE is a hardware-encrypted external storage device designed for secure data transport in regulated environments. It utilizes hardware-based AES-256-bit XTS encryption with FIPS 140-3 Level 3 validation and Common Criteria EAL5+ certification. The device connects via USB-C 3.2 with backward compatibility to USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, and is available in solid-state configurations up to 15.3 TB (delivering read/write speeds up to 260 MB/s and 248 MB/s) and hard disk configurations up to 2 TB (with transfer rates up to 152 MB/s). The hardware incorporates an IP64-rated metal frame, a hardened internal enclosure with tamper-detecting mechanisms that zeroize cryptographic keys upon compromise, a Kensington Security Slot, and a glove-compatible resistive color touchscreen with randomized keypad for multi-factor authentication. Local security mechanisms include NIST 800-88 compliant cryptographic erasure, SilentKill emergency data destruction, automated posture adjustments, and brute-force defense with self-destruct functionality after repeated failed authentication attempts.
The device operates in Standalone mode for hardware-based authentication independent of the host operating system, supporting access on macOS, Linux, and standard USB systems, with capability for up to 9,999 hardware-stored unlocks and bootable Windows environment creation when provisioned with an ISO image on software version 6.6 or higher. For enterprise deployment, the TAA-compliant device integrates with DataLocker's SafeConsole platform to enable centralized policy enforcement, audit logging, role-based access controls, remote locking and wiping, hardware reset restrictions, and authorized password-reset token allocation. The device is Citrix Ready verified; core administrative maintenance tasks including firmware updates and screen recalibration require a physical host machine running Windows 10 64-bit or later.
