WATCHER by Velona Systems is a real-time VoIP security solution designed to prevent Toll Fraud, Denial of Service (D/T-DoS), and SPIT attacks. It analyzes SIP messaging through on-site probes deployed on customer and service provider networks, comparing the traffic against a master SIP fingerprints database to detect potential threats. WATCHER continuously communicates with Velona's 'Big Data' server to ensure protected Voice systems stay updated with current threat data. The system monitors unusual calling patterns, detects threat patterns or malformed messages, identifies SIP port scanning, extension discovery, password attacks, registration hijacking, and zero-day threats. WATCHER integrates with on-site Session Border Controllers (SBCs) via RADIUS to authorize both outgoing and incoming calls, providing an additional layer of security against VoIP attacks.
