The Fabric Cryptography Verifiable Processing Unit (VPU) is a custom silicon chip designed to accelerate cryptographic workloads, offering higher speed and scalability compared to traditional CPUs and GPUs. It uses a RISC-V multi-core processor, non-blocking network-on-chip, and high-speed unified memory architecture to efficiently handle cryptographic algorithms. The VPU supports various cryptographic primitives, including Merkle trees and Plonk, and features 40 custom compute tiles per chip, with 120 tiles per card, enabling massively parallel processing. Its architecture is optimized for cryptographic tasks, making it suitable for applications like blockchain transactions, secure communications, and zero-knowledge proofs.
