USB Certified Data Erasure is a cryptographic data sanitization capability within DataLocker's SafeConsole management platform for encrypted USB devices. The solution performs certified erasure by destroying encryption keys that protect stored data, rendering information permanently unrecoverable in accordance with NIST SP 800-88 guidelines. Erasure can be initiated manually or through automated policy-driven workflows triggered by device lifecycle events such as return, reassignment, or retirement. Each operation generates tamper-proof certificates containing device ID, user, timestamp, method, and cryptographic erasure event references, alongside immutable audit logs that are digitally signed and cryptographically hashed to ensure integrity.
The capability integrates with SafeConsole's centralized management to apply erasure policies at scale across organizational USB asset inventories, providing real-time reporting and centralized visibility of device lifecycle events. Automated compliance reporting enables organizations to document and verify secure data removal across regulated environments.
