Tripwire VnE Manager is a vulnerability management platform that serves as a centralized console for assessing and managing network vulnerabilities. The platform operates on a Linux-based system and uses encryption for communications. It receives regular system, security, and vulnerability signature updates from the vendor's security research team. The console can utilize either its built-in scanning appliance or multiple scanning appliances to assess networks of varying sizes and topologies. VnE Manager maintains a one-to-many relationship with Tripwire Device Profilers, controlling them, upgrading them, and collecting scan data from them. The platform enables access to stored scan data, performs analysis and trending of scan data, and generates reports. Device Profiler executes vulnerability scans and transmits scan data via SSL encryption to VnE Manager for storage and analysis. VnE Manager uses a PostgreSQL database for data storage and retrieval and runs Apache server software. The platform provides a web-based user interface that supports multiple simultaneous users with role-based access control for executing scans, running reports, and conducting scan data analysis.
