TrapStation is not intended to replace network management systems but offers options at each rule tree node to help reduce forwarding of unwanted, spurious, redundant, and 'flapping' traps. TrapStation's rule tree nodes use an enhanced JavaScript engine for trap-handling. Calculations can be performed, trap fields queried, and varbinds manipulated using JavaScript syntax. TrapStation converts any event to an SNMP trap and forwards/logs it like native traps. Its rule tree compartmentalizes custom logic to limit scope and potential issues.
