Specops Key Recovery by Specops Software Inc. is an enterprise self-service solution for unlocking devices encrypted by BitLocker and Symantec Endpoint Encryption. It enables users who are locked out at the pre-boot authentication screen to unlock their computers without calling the IT service desk. Specops Key Recovery verifies users with multi-factor authentication before providing a recovery key. It creates a pre-boot authentication environment that requires a secret key at startup or during a lockout. Specops Key Recovery reduces helpdesk calls and increases security by allowing users to recover passwords without relying on security questions, which are vulnerable to social engineering. It updates cached credentials, triggering re-encryption with a new password, allowing users to authenticate with their new password outside the corporate network. Administrators can enroll users for multi-factor authentication without requiring user self-enrollment. Specops Key Recovery works with identity services that have identifier information stored in Active Directory, such as Symantec VIP, Duo Security, Okta, and PingID.
