SMFUTIL by ASPG is a z/OS utility designed for automating SMF data management and movement. It enhances the availability and accessibility of SMF data, reduces processing resources, and eliminates the need for special SMF processing routines. SMFUTIL fully automates SMF dumping, ensuring data integrity and faster retrieval. It supports any block size on any output device type and produces clean archived master files cataloged as normal datasets. These datasets are usable for direct input to any program requiring SMF data. SMFUTIL offers over 125 user-controlled selections to create multiple subsets of records in a single data pass. It efficiently retrieves SMF data from online and archived files for use by SMF data processing programs. Data retrieval is based on user-supplied selection and validation criteria using control keywords. SMFUTIL also provides diagnostics for bad records, improving the availability of SMF data while reducing handling costs.
