KeeeX Sign is an application designed for the electronic signature, protection, and verification of documents. It facilitates pre-signature file verification and validation, identifies each signatory to provide non-repudiation, and applies a post-operation over-signature for long-term file protection, regardless of the storage method. The system operates by creating a read-only, cryptographically secured copy of an original file, embedding authorship claims, metadata, and a unique 'keeex id' directly into the file's contents without modifying the source document. Embedded file protection can be applied manually or automatically during the signing workflow.
The application functions on a peer-to-peer exchange mechanism without a central user database, using direct contact sharing and file system indexing. For document authenticity and integrity, it supports Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) digital signatures and hardware authenticators, including FIDO keys. A specific local file functions as a universal cryptographic reference to establish verifiable authorship across all documents generated by the user. The system also automates file organization by moving prior document versions into sub-folders and appending index fragments to file names to facilitate local system searches.
