BroadForward's Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP) is a software solution designed to enable secure interconnect for 5G networks. It ensures end-to-end confidentiality and integrity for all 5G interconnect roaming messages between home and visited networks. Built on the BFX framework, a signaling architecture with experience in 3G and 4G core network functions, the SEPP adheres to 3GPP security standards and GSMA specifications. It incorporates TLS up to version 1.3 and OAuth2 for peer authentication. The SEPP manages roaming partners, hides network topology, and throttles incoming signaling messages to prevent overload. It supports 5G standalone roaming connections and provides security functions specifically for 5G network interconnections.
