Proofpoint Secure Email Relay is a hosted, multi-tenant cloud-based solution designed for transactional email sent from applications or third-party partners. The solution provides centralized management for securing email sent from internal applications, multifunction printers, and third-party partners. It protects email recipients by allowing only approved sources to connect to the relay and scans messages for malicious content while applying DKIM signing before sending. The system reduces attack surfaces by scanning application email with anti-spam and anti-virus tools and simplifies authentication of application senders through DKIM-signing for DMARC compliance. The solution protects against data leaks by applying optional payload encryption and data loss prevention to application email containing sensitive information. The system is built using cloud-based microservices architecture and provides data protection through HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit and AES 256 encryption at rest.
