SafeCrypt by DataLocker is a client-side encryption application for Windows and macOS (excluding ARM architectures) that creates virtual encrypted drives to secure files across local, network, removable, and cloud storage environments. The software utilizes FIPS 140-2 Level 1 certified AES 256-bit encryption within a zero-knowledge architecture, encrypting data on the endpoint prior to external synchronization to ensure protection during transmission and at rest. Technical security configurations for each virtual volume include independent password authentication, encrypted file names with optional UTF-8 filename encryption, optional two-factor authentication, read-only mode, and brute-force attack protection.
Operating as a component of the SafeConsole management interface, SafeCrypt enables administrators to monitor encrypted volumes and execute device deletion or restoration protocols. Deployment can occur manually or through silent command-line mass deployment, with registration to a SafeConsole server required to configure connection URLs, drive attributes, and authentication tokens. A single license supports installation on up to three computers and creation of up to three virtual drives per seat. DataLocker has discontinued software development and new license activations; existing perpetual installations remain functional indefinitely without future updates.
