ProfiShark by Profitap is a portable traffic capture platform that provides quick packet-level insight anywhere it is deployed. ProfiShark delivers high-fidelity traffic capture with high-precision hardware timestamping and USB output aggregation. It improves upon less performant options like SPAN ports or direct laptop capture, providing reliable network insights and quality traffic analysis without packet loss. ProfiShark captures high-fidelity traffic, providing exact trace files with all frames, tags, and protocols, including CRC errors, regardless of frame rate or size. It can capture packets with corrupted FCS, which regular PC NICs cannot. All models feature hardware packet slicing. Hardware timestamping is done on ingress with 5-8ns resolution, providing exact packet delta and absolute time as it was on the wire. Capture network data without impacting security or performance. The ProfiShark and host PC will not show up as a node on the network. Network connection is maintained, even when power to the ProfiShark is disconnected. ProfiShark supports PoE pass-through. ProfiShark is designed to be easy to use, with a simple user interface and the ability to capture and analyze traffic with just a few clicks. Analysis of captured traffic can be done with any software packet analyzer. ProfiShark is small and lightweight for portability. It can be configured in in-line mode or out-of-band. In-line mode is fail-safe with PoE passthrough, while out-of-band allows traffic monitoring from SPAN/mirror ports or TAP connections. 100M and 1G models provide fail-safe in-line connections. 10G models feature SFP cages, which require power to operate. ProfiShark is supported on Linux, Windows, and macOS. It can be powered from a USB 3.0 port or a 5 VDC input. ProfiShark's long-term capture solution is designed for flexibility. Combined with a NAS for storage, the long-term capture feature helps catch intermittent problems. Benefits include ringbuffer or normal capture mode, split capture to different files based on time or size, and compatibility with all Intel-based Synology NAS systems. ProfiShark is compatible with many protocol analyzers, often used with Wireshark for protocol analysis. The monitored network is physically isolated from the management interface to avoid risks of injection or MITM attacks.
