The PA28X For Commercial (also referred to as the Port Authority 288x) is a rackmount-ready analog modem designed to provide out-of-band management for commercial networks. The device is equipped with eight serial console ports, eight built-in power control outlets, and dual 20-amp power inputs. Hardware capabilities include power control and remote rebooting, Telco Line Status reporting, real-time heartbeat monitoring, and an option to add a cellular modem.
For secure administrative access, the PA28X supports multiple simultaneous SSH sessions and RSA two-factor authentication. It integrates with RADIUS and TACACS+ protocols for authentication, provides SNMP functionality for monitoring, and maintains compatibility with simple FEL or OBM Enterprise Manager systems. The unit is also available for export.
