The OTAC Applet IC Card is a multi-purpose smartcard, based on the ISO 7816 standard, embedded with a One-Time Authentication Code (OTAC) applet on an integrated circuit chip. It locally generates dynamic, non-duplicating authentication tokens without requiring a network connection. The card utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) to interface with smartphones and access control devices, enabling secure identity verification and data transmission. To protect against sniffing and card cloning, an initial NFC-generated code can be transformed into a secondary authentication code through a connected application, enabling simultaneous user identification and authentication.
This card consolidates multiple functions into a single credential, replacing static information like printed card numbers, passwords, and standard OTPs. It is designed to manage both physical access for gates and doors and logical access for system logins. The card's capabilities can be expanded to function as a payment card through financial partnerships, and it supports optional hardware integrations, including a fingerprint sensor and a digital display. This design eliminates the need for separate hardware OTP tokens.
