CodeTwo Office 365 Migration is a software application for migrating primary mailboxes, archive mailboxes, and public folders to Microsoft 365. It supports migrations from source environments including on-premises Exchange servers, IMAP servers, hosted Exchange services, and other Microsoft 365 tenants. The application establishes a direct connection between the source and target systems, using protocols like Exchange Web Services (EWS) and the OAuth 2.0 authorization framework for secure API access with Microsoft Entra ID. Data is copied passively to the target environment without altering the source content or utilizing third-party cloud intermediaries.
The migration process is managed through a job-based graphical administration panel, which eliminates the requirement for PowerShell scripting. The software provides automated workflows for source-to-target mailbox matching, as well as the creation and licensing of target user accounts. It supports cutover, staged, and hybrid migration strategies and offers granular control through scheduling, time-based and folder-based filtering, and concurrent data processing. The system also performs delta migrations to incrementally synchronize new items created after the initial transfer, facilitating the project without end-user downtime.
