MetaDefender Transfer Guard by OPSWAT is a hardware-based data diode and security gateway solution designed for unidirectional data transfer between networks of different security classifications. The system operates on an optical diode architecture, employing two distinct server nodes connected via simplex optical fiber. This physical design provides galvanic isolation and a protocol break, which prevents the creation of a routable return path and inhibits malware propagation from untrusted to trusted domains. The 1U rackmount appliance supports throughput rates of 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, or 10 Gbps and can be deployed in High Availability (HA) configurations.
For threat prevention, the solution integrates the MetaDefender Core engine to scan and sanitize all data prior to transfer. Its security capabilities include multiscanning, deep content disarm and reconstruction (CDR), adaptive sandboxing, and proactive data loss prevention (DLP). Administrators can set granular controls over unidirectional data flows for various network protocols, including TCP, UDP, and HTTP. Configuration of network parameters and stream settings is managed through a command-line interface or by uploading a structured JSON file.
