Mimecast Large File Send is a cloud-based service that enables employees to send files up to 2 GB in size directly from Microsoft Outlook for Windows or a native Mimecast Mac app. The service removes large file traffic from the email system without requiring a separate file-sharing service. Users can create emails and attach large files as they would with smaller files. The service uploads attachments to the Mimecast cloud where they are scanned for malware and checked for compliance with content and data leak prevention policies, then stored in an AES encrypted archive. Recipients receive information to access a secure web portal to download files. The service encrypts files in transit and at rest, secures documents with unique access keys, and allows administrators to set default expirations on file accessibility. All uploaded files are scanned for malware and possible data leaks. The service integrates with Outlook for Windows and Mac, provides a web portal, and includes mobile application functionality. Corporate retention policies can be applied to all content, and the service provides audit, e-discovery and compliance support.
