Flying Squirrel, developed by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory and sold by Secure Decisions, is a Government off-the-shelf (GOTS) wireless discovery and mapping application designed to enhance DoD network security. It is part of the Flying Squirrel Wireless Assessment Tool Suite, providing real-time discovery, analysis, and mapping of IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networks. The software offers integrated visualization, mapping, and post-hoc analysis capabilities for comprehensive wireless network security assessment. Flying Squirrel is used in conjunction with MeerCAT-FS, a visual analytics component, to provide a unified view of detected wireless devices, their vulnerabilities, and threats.
