The app directs both 'blocked' and 'allowed' internet traffic to the local VPN service, passing only the 'allowed' traffic to its intended destination. This approach enables the app to function as a firewall without routing traffic through a remote VPN server. Firewall AI uses artificial intelligence to detect and block threats, providing protection against hackers, espionage, and intelligence services. It offers domain filtering, control over app connections, and real-time monitoring of app server access and mobile data usage. The firewall allows users to set filter rules to allow or deny app connections, and provides notifications when apps send data to the Internet. Notably, Firewall AI was identified as one of the apps mistakenly classified as malware by several antivirus programs, including AVG, Avira, Avast, Norton360, Cynet, and WithSecure.
