CodeTwo Exchange Migration is a server application designed for the one-way migration of mailboxes and public folders to on-premises Microsoft Exchange Server environments (2013, 2016, 2019, and Subscription Edition). It supports transfers from source systems including Exchange Server 2010 and newer, Microsoft 365, and IMAP servers. The software is installed locally and operates through a graphical user interface, removing the need for PowerShell scripting or intermediate server configurations. It facilitates direct cross-forest and cross-domain migrations and accesses source mailboxes using Exchange Web Services (EWS), MAPI, or IMAP protocols, with authentication handled via administrative impersonation or OAuth 2.0.
The application copies primary mailboxes, archive mailboxes, and public folders while preserving the original folder structures. Technical features include automated mailbox matching based on primary SMTP addresses, scheduling, and data filtering capabilities. The migration process leaves source data unaltered and can run in the background to minimize end-user downtime. A delta synchronization function copies new items that arrive during the migration period, and the tool manages data transfer in batches to operate within EWS throttling policies and message size limits.
