Mimecast Email Continuity is a cloud-based service that ensures employees have uninterrupted access to live and historic email and attachments during email outages or planned downtime. The service provides seamless failover when primary email systems go down, allowing users to send and receive email without interruption through automatic switchover. It supports variable outage durations from 24 hours up to seven days of full failover and automatically synchronizes all emails sent or received during the outage once the primary email server is restored. The service enables access through multiple interfaces including Outlook for Windows, native Mac applications, mobile apps, and web portals. It provides instant failover and failback capabilities and features automated monitoring for high latency and failed deliveries with alerts to administrators. The service maintains email flow during service disruptions, natural disasters, or planned maintenance while ensuring email and content controls remain continuously applied throughout the outage. The service is supported by geographically-dispersed data centers with built-in redundancy.
