The DataLocker DL3 is a hardware-encrypted external USB storage device, available in HDD and SSD configurations, that utilizes AES cryptography and an on-device touchscreen keypad for alphanumeric authentication. The device supports distinct administrator and user profiles, a configurable self-destruct mechanism that zeroizes encryption keys after 10 to 30 failed authentication attempts, and two-factor authentication via 13.56 MHz RFID tags in the DL3FE variant. Certified to FIPS 140-2 Level 1 standards and operating without a master backdoor, the DL3 can be managed locally through the DL3 Configurator utility or centrally via the SafeConsole platform, which enable password-reset tokens, offline operation, security policy enforcement, and drive initialization to NTFS, exFAT, or FAT32 file systems.
The DL3 supports cross-platform compatibility with Windows, macOS, Linux, and virtualized environments including VMware, Citrix XenApp, and XenDesktop. The device is currently designated as End of Life (EOL) and End of Support (EOS), with final firmware updates released in October 2018 requiring a physical 64-bit Windows 10 or newer machine for installation.
