The DataLocker DL2, also known as the DataLocker Enterprise, is a FIPS 140-2 Level 1 validated hardware-encrypted removable storage device designed to secure data using production-grade cryptographic components. Operating over a USB 2.0 interface, the drive delivers read speeds of approximately 34 MB/s and write speeds of 30 MB/s, drawing power via USB or an optional external AC adapter. Data security is maintained through hardware-level encryption and access controls, including user-level permissions, irrecoverable administrator passwords, and strong password requirements. The unit also features a configurable self-destruct mechanism that permanently deletes the encryption key and erases all contents following a specified threshold of consecutive failed access attempts. Device management is handled locally or via a centralized console using the DL3 Configurator tool and the Windows-based Enterprise Admin Password Utility. Following a zeroization or factory reset event, the hardware requires reinitialization in NTFS or exFAT formats using the DataLocker Disk Formatter Tool.
