The DESkey DK2USB/B is a USB hardware token developed by Data Encryption Systems that provides hardware-based encryption functionality. The device operates across Windows operating systems from Windows XP through Windows 11, including server versions, and is recognized by the system as a Human Interface Device (HID), appearing in Device Manager under "USB Input Device" and "HID-compliant vendor-defined device" classifications when utilizing v30 firmware. On Windows 10/11 systems, the device appears under Universal Serial Bus devices and operates with a dedicated USB driver that functions under all enhanced security modes, including Hypervisor-based Code Integrity (HVCI).
The DK2USB/B is compatible with v30 firmware and works alongside DK2USB/D devices within the DK2 driver suite ecosystem. The device supports DESkeyAPI integration, enabling threaded applications, fast enumeration, and memory read/write operations. Driver installation includes command-line options supporting silent deployment and installation without system restart, along with logging capabilities for diagnostic purposes. The token can be unlocked through an included DESkey tray application, and is designed for integration with DESkey's API and network server components.
