Dedicated Servers by Lux Scientiae maximize security, privacy, reliability, and capacity. Lux Scientiae's Dedicated Servers are virtual machines running 64-bit Oracle Linux, with Windows-based virtual servers not available. These servers can be used for email hosting (with access via WebMail, POP, IMAP, SMTP, and ActiveSync), web hosting, MySQL database hosting, Secure Form processing, dedicated inbound email filtering, and dedicated WebMail. By default, Lux Scientiae installs Oracle Linux 8, Apache v2.4, and MariaDB v10. Dedicated servers can be HIPAA compliant and are designed to meet the needs of healthcare organizations. Lux Scientiae adds software, hardware, and account-level firewalls to control traffic, runs intrusion-detection and alerting software, and provides isolated storage for web, email, and database files. The servers are backed up automatically with 7 daily snapshots in the same data center and 4 weekly snapshots in a remote data center. Custom backup schedules and retention periods are available for an additional fee. Upgrades and downgrades are simple, and servers can be resized quickly without any special fee. Cron jobs are supported and enabled by Lux Scientiae technical support. Access to the dedicated server is available via email, file system (SFTP, web-based FileManager), and shell access (SSH upon request; root-level access not available). MySQL access is available from applications on the server, a web-based database manager tool, and remotely over stunnel- or VPN-secured connections.
