The DataLocker Personal Edition is an external hard drive enclosure that provides password-protected access to a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive. It connects to a computer via a USB 2.0 high-speed (480 Mbps) interface and draws power from the USB bus (5 V/500 mA), with an optional DC input for an external power adaptor if USB power is insufficient. The unit includes an LCD touch panel for user interaction, a numeric keypad for password entry, status LEDs for power and drive activity, a buzzer, and a power switch. Passwords may be up to 12 digits; the factory default password is six zeros (000000). When secure mode is enabled, the drive cannot be accessed through another enclosure, and the device displays a DATA LOCKED icon.
The DataLocker Personal Edition supports Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Mac OS 9.2 or later. It allows users to change passwords, enable or disable secure mode, and connect to the computer by selecting CONNECT or SETUP on the LCD screen. If an incorrect password is entered three consecutive times, the LCD panel shuts down and must be power-cycled. The enclosure includes a USB cable, a quick start guide, and optional accessories such as a protective case. The device dimensions are 79.5 mm × 129.7 mm × 23 mm (W × D × H).
