PacketViper Compute Edge is a unified infrastructure platform embedded within the core PacketViper security fabric. Its purpose is to deploy security monitoring, threat detection, and operational applications to diverse edge locations such as industrial control systems, smart city infrastructure, building automation networks, IT networks, data centers, and colocation facilities. The platform provides local compute and management capabilities in environments that have historically lacked dedicated infrastructure, enabling continuous security coverage for unmanaged or remote sites.
By processing threat intelligence and enforcing network policies directly at the edge, the platform ensures protection and operational visibility even during WAN outages. It supports the deployment of approved local applications for functions like analytics and monitoring without requiring separate servers, reducing latency and costs associated with backhauling traffic. Compute Edge utilizes techniques including Automated Moving Target Defense (AMTD) and software-defined data diodes to secure remote devices, enforce network microsegmentation, and prevent lateral movement across distributed network nodes.
