Cloudmark Spam Reporting Service is an email security service that allows users to report messages as spam or legitimate email through designated buttons. The service analyzes these user reports to improve threat detection accuracy within Proofpoint's Global Threat Network and Trust Evaluation System. The Global Threat Network collects and correlates reports from distributed honeypots, customers, and sensors worldwide. The Trust Evaluation System processes these reports, assigns reputation scores to messages based on reporter credibility, and updates reporter reputations based on their historical accuracy in identifying unwanted content. When messages are reported, the service creates digital fingerprints using message content and sender metadata to enhance threat response while maintaining privacy controls. Messages classified as malicious are distributed to Proofpoint's global solutions within 30 seconds. The system retains reported messages for 30 days and uses reputation-based analysis to reduce false positives and administrative overhead.
