Byos Secure Edge is a hardware-based cybersecurity solution that implements edge microsegmentation to protect endpoints, networks, and IoT devices. It secures the ingress/egress point of traffic at the edge, addressing the gap in protection between endpoints and the networks they connect to. The Byos Secure Edge is available in two form factors: a compact USB device for laptops and tablets, and an IoT gateway for wired and wireless applications. It offers plug-and-play functionality for securing connections to unmanaged networks like public or home Wi-Fi. The device provides 'first hop' protection by implementing microsegmentation and route enforcement, replacing the endpoint's native Wi-Fi and safeguarding across OSI layers 1-5 by acting as the gateway. It operates on a proprietary, hardened Unix-based OS with customized network services, signed hardware drivers, and a recompiled kernel. All security processing is performed locally within the Secure Edge, independent of cloud servers, reducing exposure and protecting data.
