Aircloak Insights is a data anonymization solution developed by Aircloak that enables ad hoc analytics while preserving privacy and ensuring GDPR compliance. It acts as a transparent proxy between analysts and sensitive data, allowing them to query sensitive datasets using SQL or business intelligence tools while ensuring the results are aggregated and fully anonymized. The system uses the Diffix anonymization mechanism, co-developed with the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI-SWS), to offer building- and hour-level granularity of data while protecting individual privacy. Aircloak Insights applies noise and other anonymization techniques to query results in real-time, combining techniques like K-Anonymity, low-count suppression, top and bottom coding, differential privacy noise, and patented concepts such as Sticky Layered Noise and safe SQL filtering. This approach allows for more accurate and flexible analytics while maintaining strong privacy protections across various use cases and data types, including unstructured text. The solution has been approved for GDPR-level anonymity by the French data protection authority.
