Aegis Padlock by Apricorn is a high-security portable storage device designed to protect sensitive data. It features 256-bit AES XTS hardware encryption, ensuring that all data is encrypted on-the-fly and remains encrypted while the drive is at rest. The device is equipped with an onboard keypad for PIN authentication, which eliminates the need for software-based authentication and makes it cross-platform compatible and OS agnostic. Aegis Padlock works with Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, and Chrome. It is designed to function in environments where software-authenticated encrypted devices fail, such as embedded systems or equipment with a powered USB port and storage file system but no keyboard. The internal components are protected from physical tampering with a layer of hardened epoxy, and the firmware is locked down to prevent modifications, making it impervious to malware attacks like BadUSB. The device is also equipped with a polymer-coated wear-resistant keypad to prevent key logging attempts and obscure commonly used buttons. Aegis Padlock supports both Admin and User PINs, with Admin mode controlling device settings and User mode limited to basic functions like read/write and unlock/lock. The device also features a Brute Force Hack Defense Mechanism that deletes its encryption key after a set number of incorrect password attempts, preventing data decryption.
