The Niagara Networks 3808E is a 1RU modular platform designed as a hybrid bypass and packet broker for high-availability inline network operations and network visibility infrastructures. It integrates inline bypass switching, packet brokering, and active TAP functionality into a unified system. The platform supports multi-rate network interfaces from 1Gb to 100Gb and houses up to two double-bay field-replaceable modules, which can provide up to eight bypass segments with integrated monitoring ports.
For inline deployments, the system enables fail-safe and fail-open switching with sub-50ms failover, utilizing optical relays and configurable heartbeat protection to maintain network uptime. Its packet brokering features include FabricFlow filtering, session-aware load balancing, and visibility from Layer 2 through Layer 4 with user-defined byte filtering. The architecture also supports optional Packetron Acceleration Modules to facilitate advanced network intelligence, application-aware intelligence, and hosting for third-party applications.
