The Niagara Networks 3296 Bypass Switch is a modular, multi-rate passive bypass switch designed to ensure network connectivity for inline security appliances. It operates across copper and fiber links from 10 Mb up to 400 Gb to maintain continuous traffic flow during power loss, hardware failures, software crashes, or scheduled maintenance.
The system utilizes a fanless 1U form factor and supports up to 8 network links via four modular bypass segments. It features programmable heartbeat-based bypass and power control via a USB Type-B connection, allowing administrators to configure per-segment fail-open or fail-close behaviors to protect east-west and north-south network flows.
